Every cross stitch chart on this page has a Build Your Kit supply list on its product page. Most threads are Gentle Art, Weeks Dye Works, or Classic Colorworks, with specialty silks and pearl cottons from Belle Soie, Gloriana, and Valdani when a designer calls for them. Fabric and needle recommendations are included with every kit, and pricing and stock are always current.
To use a kit, open any chart on this page and scroll down to the Build Your Kit section. Every supply is listed with its color name, match type (Exact, Substitute, or Recommended), and current price. Check what you need, uncheck anything you already have on hand, and add it all to your cart in one step. Fabric comes with a recommended cut size, and the needle is unchecked by default.
When a chart is out of stock, the kit still works. The supplies stay available even when the chart isn't, so you can order threads, fabric, and a needle for a chart you already have at home or one you plan to pick up later.
You won't have to cross-reference supply lists or guess which needle fits your fabric count. If a color is substituted, the kit shows exactly what and why.
A note on substitutions: Many of the fabrics originally called for by designers are hand-dyed linens that have been discontinued or are no longer available. Our recommended replacements are matched by count and tone, but hand-dyed fabrics vary naturally from dye lot to dye lot, and color descriptions can only get so close. The same goes for thread substitutions—we match within the same color family, but every hand-dyed skein is unique. Please use your best judgment, and don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions about a particular substitution before ordering.
