How Thread Conversion Works
Cross-stitch patterns list thread colors by brand — most commonly DMC. When you prefer the rich depth of hand-dyed threads like Gentle Art, Weeks Dye Works, or Classic Colorworks, you need a way to find the closest equivalent. That’s what this tool does.
Pick your brand first, then search by color name or number. We’ll show every equivalent across all 10 brands we track — with current pricing, stock status, and Add to Cart on everything we carry. Reference brands (DMC, Anchor, Cosmo, Sullivans, J&P Coats) appear as search entry points but aren’t sold here.
Hand-dyed threads have natural color variation between dye lots, so conversions are approximate. We rate each match as close or approximate so you can decide what works for your project. When in doubt, contact us — we’re happy to help.
